Know exactly what to look for when inspecting your roof for damage

Seasonal storms often bring heavy rain, hail and very high winds.  If your roof is properly installed, usually it will protect your home from damage.  However, there are times when these storms can cause substantial damage to your roof but may not be immediately visible or noticeable.  Charlotte Ace Roofing is a dependable roofing contractor that can help you assess the damage properly.  We work with insurance companies to make sure your home is properly and satisfactorily covered by the insurance company for damage it sustained.

Hail Damage

Hailstorms can cause major damage to your roofing shingles including punctures, fractures and tears that will shorten the lifespan of the shingles.  It is very important to carefully inspect the roof of your home after a hail or windstorm to ensure that your roofing system has not been compromised.  If you are not able to get on your roof safely, there are other signs around your home that will tell you if the hail or wind caused damage to your roof.  Inspect metal areas such as your mailbox, your vehicle, your gutters and other items such as landscaping and furniture to see if they have been dented/damaged by the hail or wind.  Once you have identified the damage, it is time to call a reputable roofing company in your area.  Charlotte Ace Roofing is a local roofing contractor in the Charlotte metro area that has proven experience in dealing with insurance claims on your behalf to ensure that your roof is covered with the proper roofing system.  We always make sure your experience is hassle free and your new roofing system is installed to last!

High Winds

High winds with hail can also be a huge culprit to all roofing system.  According to the National Roofing Contractors Association (NRCA), most wind damage on roofs starts on the edge of the roof.  Over time, the strong winds will cause any loose material around the perimeter of the roof to be lifted.  This causes a chain-peeling affect that will cause the shingles to blow away and fall off.  The edges are also more vulnerable to damage caused by flying debris.  Over time, as the winds lift the materials and the insulation factor is gone, water can easily travel below the roof surface and into your home causing damage to the interior of your home.  One obvious sign of wind damage is curled, torn or missing shingles.  These can be spotted from examining the roof without having to climb it.  You should also be aware of the other roofing components including ventilation pipes, gutters, the chimney flashing as well as flashing in general.  While you are checking your roof, it is also a good idea to check your windows for any cracks, torn screens, or loose weather stripping.  Any of the components, when damaged, can allow water to penetrate the surface of the roof and cause leaks which overtime can get very costly if ignored.

Tree Damage

It is critical to take care of any damage to your roof caused by falling branches, trees or debris.  Roof replacement or roof repair will cost you much less right away rather than ignoring the damage until the compromised surface allows moisture into the home and cause even more damage.  Be sure to examine and document the damage thoroughly before doing any work on the roof yourself.
