A skylight or solar tube can bring daylight into a dark hallway, bathroom or kitchen. Installed badly, it is also one of the most common sources of roof leaks we are called to fix.
Charlotte Ace Roofing installs, replaces and repairs Velux skylights and solar tubes across the Charlotte metro. We use Velux because it is built to stay sealed for years, and we flash every unit into the roof the right way.

What We Do
- New Velux skylights: brighten a room with natural light
- Velux solar tubes: daylight for small spaces like hallways, closets and bathrooms, without a full skylight
- Skylight replacement: swap old, fogged or leaking units for new ones
- Skylight leak repair: find where the water gets in, whether it’s the flashing, the seal or the glass, and fix it
Don’t Put Up With a Leaking Skylight
Most skylight leaks come from the installation, not the skylight itself: missing or poorly fitted flashing, or caulk used where real flashing belongs. A poorly installed skylight can start leaking right away and damage ceilings, drywall and insulation. We install each unit with the manufacturer’s flashing kit, so it stays sealed.
Replacing Your Roof? Do the Skylights Too
If a new roof is coming, that is the time to replace or reseal your skylights. The roof is already open, the flashing is new and the skylight is tied into the new roof as one system, instead of an old unit sitting in a new roof.

Skylight and Solar Tube Questions
Why is my skylight leaking?
Usually the flashing around it has failed or was never installed correctly. Sometimes it is a cracked lens or a worn seal. We find the actual cause during a free inspection.
Skylight or solar tube: which do I need?
A skylight brings a view and a lot of light to a larger room. A solar tube is smaller and suits hallways, bathrooms and closets where you just want daylight.
Should I replace skylights when I replace my roof?
We recommend it. It costs less to do both at once and keeps the skylight from becoming the weak spot in a brand-new roof.
