If your roof is damaged, you are probably thinking to yourself: what should I do?

Like many of our customers, it can be stressful to deal with roof damage, roofing companies and insurance. Many Roofing companies will tell you what you want to hear.  Now many roofing companies will tell you the truth because sometimes it’s not what the homeowner wants to hear.  We at Charlotte Ace Roofing promise to be honest and tell our customers the truth regardless of the situation.  We believe that its best to act in good faith, be honest and at the end it’s always the right thing to do.

So, you know that your roof is damaged.  What should you do next? The answer is pretty simple, you need to file an insurance claim with your roofing company ASAP.  Please do not wait. The sooner you file the better. 

What happens after you file a roof damage claim

When you call in to file the roof damage claim, the person on the phone should give you a claim number before they hang up. Next, the desk adjuster will call you, will ask you a few questions to verify that you are the homeowner. After that the insurance desk adjuster will either set up an appointment to come out and inspect the roof.  Recently, in the Charlotte area, the desk adjusters have been using ladder assist companies to help with the roof inspections.  This is normal. The desk adjuster may tell you that they are sending your information to a ladder assist company, and they will reach out to schedule a date and time to inspect your roof.  It is important for you to notify the roofer when the desk adjuster comes so that the roofing company is also present. Finally, after the inspection, the desk adjuster will get the report and they will do one of 3 things. They will pay for a new roof, they will pay for a repair, or they will deny the roof.  In my next blog we will talk about the 3 options and what happens with each option.
